Customer Reviews
Good deals, slow shipping
Got 20% off during their Memorial Day sale for an Ampex Gear Daypack and it's solid, same quality as the one I got last year. The automatic discount at checkout was super easy, as always. My only complaint this time was shipping; it took almost a week longer than usual to get here, which was a bit of a bummer since I needed it for a trip.
Solid tent, good support
I ordered the AMPEX Gear 2-person ultralight tent for a backpacking trip. The ordering process on their site was straightforward, no real hitches. Delivery took about 6 days to get to my place in Oregon, which was within their estimated window. I had a quick question about the footprint tarp compatibility, so I used their chat support. They responded within an hour and cleared it up. The tent itself seems well-made; the zippers feel sturdy, and the stitching looks clean. Set up was intuitive, even for one person. It packed down pretty small too. Used it for a weekend, and it held up fine in some light rain. Overall, a good experience and a reliable product.
Good value, minor shipping delay
I bought the synthetic mummy sleeping bag during their spring sale. The price was competitive, much better than some of the similar options I saw elsewhere. The sleeping bag itself feels warm and packs down reasonably well for a synthetic. The website was easy to navigate and placing the order was simple. However, shipping took a day longer than the initial estimate, arriving on the 7th day instead of the 6th. Not a huge deal, but worth noting. Customer service was responsive when I inquired about the delay. Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase and the value.
Consistent quality, reliable gear
This was my third purchase from Ampex Gear, this time a multi-day hiking backpack. I've bought a sleeping bag and a camping chair from them previously. Each time, the order process is smooth, and shipping is reliably on time, usually within 5-7 business days to my address in Colorado. The quality of this backpack, like my other items, feels durable and well-designed for its price point. I keep coming back because their gear consistently performs as expected on trails without breaking the bank. It's good to know what you're getting without any surprises, which isn't always the case with online outdoor gear.
Quick shipping, good pad
Got an inflatable sleeping pad. Shipped fast, arrived in 3 days. Pad was easy to inflate and comfortable. No issues. Would buy again.
Lantern works great
Needed a portable lantern for car camping. Found one on Ampex Gear. It showed up pretty quick, like 4 days. It's bright and easy to use, just what I needed. Happy with it.
